stage 1.5; sourcing for suppliers

2005, Kuala Lumpur- Finding a steady supply of darkroom nessecities was difficult. The darkroom was a dying trade and many manufacturers were bankrupt or evolving into digital. FOTODAYA

stage 1; the right enlarger

2005, Ampang- Opted for an affordable Seagull condenser enlarger which could handle 120 format. But it was out of stock for almost a year and I almost gave up. Acquired an old 1971 4x5” German Durst colour head enlarger instead from my photography lecturer. Eventually by the start of 2006, I had a basic operational darkroom. Total expenditure breached my initial budget by 300%, but the results were very satisfying. The darkroom is semi permanent only, as it is also my bedroom.

my first print; magic before my eyes

2004 cenfad- My first print, and my first encounter with the magic of the darkroom. After this exposure, I was eternally hooked. Photography has evolved into a different world for me to explore and drown myself into.
